Meet Rebecca
Rebecca Newsome is an occupational therapist with 8 years of experience in the prevention and treatment of scarring and oedema following traumatic injuries and surgery.
She holds a Certificate III in Community Services (Mental Health), a Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology) from the Queensland University of Technology and a Master of Occupational Therapy from the University of Sydney. She has completed a Business Leadership Program due to her interest in providing equitable and innovative practice in the private sector.
Rebecca embraces a holistic approach to practice based on the biopsychosocial model of healthcare and has a particular interest in the psychological impact of traumatic injuries upon clients, families and carers. She has also developed a trauma-specific graded motor imagery program for clients with pain and sensory changes, and coordinates a surgical microneedling clinic run through Scar Care.
